Colonics are a tool used to actually exercise and train the bowel to evacuate properly on its own. A series of treatments should actually improve bowel function rather than inhibit it like overuse of laxatives often can.
This will vary from person to person but the average is 40 minutes.
As an introduction we recommend a series of three, one to two weeks apart. Regular maintenance will vary from person to person and will be discussed with your therapist.
No, you will fully maintain your dignity. You will be in a private room with only your therapist, who appreciates the sensitivity of the Colonic procedure and will help put you at ease. After the gentle insertion of a small tube, you are completely covered. Rubber tubing carries clean water in and waste out in a closed system. The mess and odour sometimes present during an enema simply do not exist with a Colonic.
Colon hydrotherapy is completely clean and hygienic. We use single use, disposable kits for each session; all water entering your body is filtered and sterilized; and your therapist will be wearing disposable gloves during the treatment.
Colonics are rarely painful. The tubes are small and the therapist experienced! You may experience some mild cramping initially as excess gas is expelled from the colon.
Anyone with cancer of the colon or GI tract, rectal bleeding or severe hemorrhoids, rectal or abdominal tumors, cirrhosis, fissures. If you have any known complications with your colon or GI tract, or are pregnant, please consult a physician before having colon hydrotherapy.
A small, disposable tube is inserted into the rectum and warm filtered water is gently trickled into the colon. This water hydrates the colon and stimulates the body’s own perastalic action, encouraging the colon to empty itself naturally. The machine is operated by a qualified therapist who remains with you at all times and may perform gentle abdominal massage to enhance the results of your treatment.
Well, everything has its place, but enemas aren't substitutes for Colonics. Enemas are useful for emptying the rectum (the lowest 20 centimetres or so of the colon) and may solve issues with temporary constipation but they cannot detoxify the body or exercise the bowel in the way a colonic can.
Colonics do flush out the bowel, however ‘good’ bacteria are very resilient and actually thrive in a clean environment. We always provide probiotic supplements after a treatment to replace the friendly bacteria and restore internal balance.
